Comparative study of the dietary quality of insect proteins (mealworm) with those of peas and casein, in rats in basal or physical activity situations.

Contact : Christophe Montaurier (ASMS)

Objective

The objective of this project is to compare, in individuals who are growing or undergoing sports training, the metabolic efficiency of proteins from three different sources: casein for the animal protein (reference), pea proteins for those of plant origin, and finally insect proteins, more precisely from mealworm (Tenebrio molitor), the most produced insect in France among the four species authorized for human consumption by the European Commission. The aim is to provide pre-clinical evidence showing that proteins from the mealworm are nutritionally suitable for the development of products such as food supplements for sports individuals.
