Research objective

Maintaining vascular health is an essential component of maintaining health and aging well. Indeed, early vascular dysfunction is associated with the initiation of atherosclerosis, the development of cardiovascular diseases, and is also implicated in the occurrence of type 2 diabetes and cognitive disorders.

To develop new effective nutritional prevention strategies, it is therefore important to identify dietary patterns, foods, nutrients or micronutrients likely to prevent or delay vascular dysfunction.

In this context, the NutriVasc team's research focuses on understanding the role of plant bioactives provided by food in the prevention of vascular dysfunctions, with the main objectives of :

  • - Exploring the Food Metabolome to assess dietary exposures associated with plant-based food intake
  • - Novel mediators of the effects of diet on cardiometabolic health
  • - Role of plants and their bioactives on vascular and cerebrovascular function and implications for health (from clinical studies to underlying mechanisms of action)

Cross-sectionally, the research aims to identify the main factors responsible for inter-individual variability in the response to the consumption of plant bioactives.

We intervene in the themes : Plant products, health and sustainable food
