B-STRONG

Through a bio-inspired approach, B-Strong aims to provide new weapons in the fight against human muscle atrophy.

Le projet B-STRONG est coordonné par le Dr Fabrice Bertile (CNRS-Université de Strasbourg, IPHC), et financé par l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) pour 3 ans.

The B-STRONG project is coordinated by Dr. Fabrice Bertile (CNRS-University of Strasbourg, IPHC) and funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) for three years.

Through a bio-inspired approach, B-Strong aims to provide new weapons in the fight against human muscle atrophy, a major public health problem affecting sedentary, malnourished, elderly, or cachexic individuals. The B-STRONG project will research the serum compounds of hibernating bears that protect their muscle mass by modulating the BMP/TGF-beta balance, and will decipher the signaling pathways involved. To achieve these objectives, B-STRONG relies on two partners with complementary and internationally recognized expertise in their respective fields: the Hubert Curien Multidisciplinary Institute in Strasbourg and our unit (Drs Etienne Lefai and Lydie Combaret - PROTEOSTASIS) in Clermont-Ferrand.
