Part’AGE

Food for seniors in Part’AGE

The Part’AGE project aims to improve the diet of people aged 55 to 75 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Our goal is to study the eating habits and lifestyles of volunteers in order to better adapt nutritional practices to individual needs, thus promoting healthy aging. And you too can contribute to advancing science! In this project, we are conducting a clinical study in which you can participate from home. A "personalized assessment kit" will be provided, containing all the necessary equipment for anthropometric measurements, biological sample collection (urine and blood), and functional oral health tests. You will also be asked to complete simple and accessible online questionnaires. Your involvement could be instrumental in advancing nutrition research!

Who can participate and how ?

Step 1 – Contact the study secretary (phone/email) : The volunteer receives the main information about the study, verifies their eligibility, and then the study secretary offers a teleconsultation appointment on a day convenient to them.

Step 2 – Teleconsultation : A nurse explains the protocol in detail, verifies the inclusion criteria, has the volunteer sign the consent form, and schedules the personalized assessment kit. A very simple chair-rise test is also performed via video to assess muscle strength.

Step 3 – Receiving the kit at home : The volunteer receives a kit containing the equipment needed to measure body dimensions, collect biological samples, and perform oral health tests, with detailed instructions.

Step 4Sending the samples : The volunteer must return the samples to the INRAE laboratory using a prepaid envelope included in the kit.

Step 5 - Online Questionnaires : The volunteer completes 29 questionnaires on a secure platform, covering various aspects such as diet, physical activity, overall health, and psycho-socio-economic factors.

Duration : Several tests and various questionnaires to be completed at your convenience over a maximum of 5 weeks

Questions and Answers :

Is there a fee for the study ? No, the clinical study is free. Sample shipping costs are fully covered by the study.

Is my participation confidential ? In accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), all personal information collected as part of this study will be treated as strictly confidential by the research sponsor (INRAE).

Is this study approved by an ethics committee ? Yes, this study has been approved by an independent ethics committee, in accordance with current French and European regulations for clinical studies.

How long does each stage of the study take ? The teleconsultation lasts approximately 40 minutes. The measurement and testing kit varies depending on the participant but remains easy, quick, and flexible (approximately half a day). The online questionnaires can be completed in several sessions. Depending on the questionnaire, completion can take from 3 to 30 minutes.

Are the oral health tests and the urine and blood drop samples complicated ? No. The kit contains clear and detailed instructions for each step. You can easily perform the tests and samples yourself at home. Telephone assistance is also available if necessary.

Are the blood samples painful ? For the blood sample, a finger prick is performed with a device provided in the kit. This causes minimal discomfort, similar to a blood glucose test.

What will the researchers do with my blood samples ? The blood and urine collected will be used for laboratory analyses to determine your general health and to look for links between your health and nutritional status.

Can I receive assistance completing the online questionnaires ? Yes. Upon request, local representatives can help you with certain aspects of the protocol.

Can I participate if I don't have regular internet access ? Internet access is an inclusion criterion. It is therefore essential for the study to be conducted. You must have access to it at home or get help from relatives or a local structure (CCAS, Maison France Services, etc.)
